Corvette Report’s BREAKING NEWS from the week of 4-14-25

New Wheels For the ZORA C8 Corvette

Scuttlebutt has it that the C8 Zora will be at the top of the Corvette feeding chain. Meaning that, as awesome as the C8 ZR1 is, the ZORA will be more. Engineers loved working with Zora Arkus Duntov. Many are on record saying that, “… you never worked, “for Zora”, you worked, “with Zora”. He led his team with love and passion.

If you have the ability to see underneath the vinyl camo wrap in the many spy photos that have been leaking out, you’ll see lots of small, subtle features and add-ons. So, it looks like the ZORA will be getting a set of new, trick wheels. As of today, we’ll have to hold our breath and wait a little longer. Here’s the story.

C8 Corvette Florida State Trooper Cop Car

This story has been all over the internet for the past week or so. This is not the only C8 Corvette cop car that’s been reported on over the last few years. You can see LOTS of examples of C8 cop cars, HERE. What’s cool about these cars is that the police departments don’t have to do anything to enhance the performance of their latest tool for keeping the peace.

I hope that the police departments send the lucky officers assigned to duty in the C8 to the Ron Fellows Driving School. There are many stories of owners of previous-generation Corvettes that were blown away by how much more of a performance machine the C8 is, compared to the previous-generation Z06 Corvettes.

Regardless, if you are speeding or driving out on the edge on Florida public highways and this particular black and white C8 Corvette quickly pulls up behind you, DON’T try to outrun this Florida State Trooper!

Not Driven For 30 Years: NOT GOOD!

One of the trends in the previously owned Corvette world is “original low mileage”. While on the surface it might seem that such a Corvette would be a bargain, but BUYER BEWARE! I’d rather have a ’96 Corvette with 96,000 miles than a ’96 Corvette with 9,600 miles.

Why? Because a Corvette (or any car) that’s that old, with low mileage, has been sitting for long periods of time. Cars (especially performance cars, such as Corvettes) DO NOT like to sit still. Performance cars are happiest when they are regularly given a good workout. (That’s the FUN part for us!)

Also, don’t forget that under all the pretty fiberglass of any C1 to C6 Corvette, there’s still lots of steel that can rust like any other regular car. The Bryar Blue 1972 Corvette in this story is definitely a 20-yard beauty with LOTS of problems caused by just sitting in a garage instead of being out in the wind. Here’s the story.

C9 Corvette Is Closer Than You Think!

The next generation Corvette never just “arrives”. It takes years of careful development to make sure the next “new” Corvette is as perfect as humanly possible. Given that the C8 is now in its 6th year of production, you can be assured that the development of the C9 is fully underway.

What’s tantalizing is the number of model Corvettes that are a performance cut above the already stout basic C8: the Z06, the E-Ray, the ZR1, and the upcoming ZORA. On top of that, there’s a developing “Mid-Cycle Refresh” in the works with the possibility of a revised dash and a replacement for the base model LT2 engine.

HotCars.com is projecting that the C9 will be a 2029 model; that’s four years out. A LOT can happen between now and then. I fully expect a tsunami splash by the C9. We’ll see. Here’s the story. Scott
