2026 Corvette: Will GM Deliver A New Small-Block Engine To Replace The LT2?

This is an interesting development. A few weeks ago, we saw spy photos of a gaggle of camoed engineering mules in snowy, rural Michigan. A few photos showed what looks like a new dash.

New dash? New engine? New model? (the ZORA) This is shaping up to be a what’s called a “mid-cycle refresh”, ala’ the 1990-1992 C4 Corvette. My read on this is that the C8 will be around for several more years. This story connects to the next story.

Chevy Corvette Sales Drop In Q1 2025

No surprise here. The C8 market has finally been saturated. But what a sales run! The possibility of a mid-cycle refresh tells me that Corvette product planners and engineers know that they must offer future buyers something distinctively different, and not another model.

As things stand now, it is very difficult to specifically call out the years of all C8 Corvettes. Aside from model differences, they are 99% identical.

10 Most Insane Features That Make The C8 ZR1 A Supercar Slayer

How cool is it that this is the fourth ZR1 (ZR-1) Corvette that has represented GM’s flagship technology/performance car? Each ZR1/ZR-1 represented GM’s technical prowess for its time. So, once again, the current ZR1 Corvette is dripping with cool stuff!

Let’s Summon The Spirit Of The Legendary Aerovette Concept To Make A Cleaner C8

Be assured, this does not represent the C9 Corvette. Why? Because Corvette styling never so blatantly “looks back” when styling the next Corvette. However, with dozens of C8 body kits available under the banner of “wide-body”, this retro-Aerovette design is distinctive and not over-developed.

This is obviously an A.I.-generated image. I’d like to see a longer, tapered tail. I’ll start writing my A.I. Prompts.
