Corvette Report’s BREAKING NEWS from the week of 5-26-25

Official Dealer Slides from the 2026 Corvette Update

We can see clearly now! The drip, drip, drip of the new 2026 Corvette interior went on for a seemingly long time. But now the official Chevrolet photos sent to dealers are out, all I can say is, “Good job, Corvette team! Nice work!”

Keith Cornett’s CorvetteBlogger.com did a good job of laying out the photos. Just click any image to make it big, then use the forward-backward arrows.

My guess is that the C8 Corvette interior refresh has been in the works for at least two years while customer were still waiting to take delivery of their new 2022 or 2023 Corvette. As previously reported, C8 sales have finally plateaued. The arrival of the refreshed interior now gives a good excuse for C8 owners to upgrade and others to finally go for it and order a C8. And they won’t have to wait for 18 months!

No Cadillac Corvette coming, as GM rules out mid-engine luxury supercar

I always liked the 2003-2009 Cadillac XLR. They are really a C5 Corvette with the Cadillac Northstar engine and a unique body. And, they were built at the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant. How much more “Corvette” can you get? I suppose they could have used the C5’s LS1 engine, but Cadillac wanted to show off their latest gee-wiz Northstar mill.

Not too long ago, the Corvette rumor mill started smoking out the notion that, because the C8 Corvette has been such a hit, and Cadillac once had a Corvette-based car, they might consider it again, but on the C8 platform.

GM president, Mark Reuss stated that a C8 Corvette-based Cadillac sports car doesn’t fit into the brand’s new strategy. Cadillac is aiming at the world-class, ultra-high-end, hi-tech, luxury market. And that’s very cool. Check out the Jay Leno’s Garage episode with the new Corvette Chief Engineer, Tony Snow. This episode was recorded around the time Snow was announced as the new Corvette Chief Engineer. But the featured car is the new Cadillac Celestiq. I’m not a fan of electric cars, but the Celestiq is mighty impressive.

2025 Corvette ZR1 Fuel Economy Ratings Released

SUDDENLY, IT’S 1970 AGAIN! Back in the ’60s and ’70s, there was an expression around the topic of gas mileage for cars. My first car was a 1970 307 Malibu that got 14 miles per gallon. All of the old guys at work (the 40-year-olds!) would say about my Malibu’s mileage was, “Yeah, that’s about right.” The big luxury Cadillac and Lincoln “gas guzzlers” used to get around 10 miles per gallon. And the old guys at work used to say, “If you can’t afford the gas, you can’t afford the car!”

True, true, but we’re talking a whopping 4 miles per gallon. It’s just a quirky factoid I have in my head. Here we are now, 55 years later, and the most powerful Corvette ever made, that delivers unimaginable performance compared to circa 1970, delivers 10 city/18 highway/14 combined mpg.

Suddenly, it’s 1970 again! Only fast, quicker, and a whole lot more expensive!
