Corvette Report’s BREAKING NEWS from the week of 6-18-25
2026 ZR1X—The ZR1 and the E-Ray had a baby—it’s a boy, and his name is ZORA!
The 2026 ZR1X is undoubtedly THE story of the year for Corvette. Weeks before the June 17, 2025, debut of the ZR1X, Chevrolet teased that “something big” was about to be announced, something with an “X”.
Given that, many were reading the tea leaves that the much anticipated “ZORA” might be released. Car and Driver stated, “Despite the new name, the ZR1X is the Corvette Zora that we’ve been expecting since the C8 Corvette debuted.” In their April 12, 2023, story, Car and Driver writer Rich Ceppos predicted that the ZORA would be an 800-HP twin-turbo beast.
It turned out that Rich’s prediction was only 450 HP off! The ZR1X is packing 1,250 HP, thanks to the E-Ray’s 186 HP front drive electric motor pulling the front and the ZR1’s 1,064 HP LT7 pushing the rear.
While technically a “parts bin” machine, when you have access to a parts bin like Team Corvette’s, it’s going to be amazing. The Corvette world, and the rest of the sports performance car world, will be talking about the ZR1X ZORA for a long time. Zora Arkus-Duntov’s birthday was December 25, 1909. It’s too bad Chevrolet couldn’t have released the C8 ZR1X ZORA on Christmas Day!

Where’s the Zora? In Germany at Nürburgring! – SPY PHOTOS
If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words is a video worth? Whatever that is, multiply that times two! The ZR1X has set the supercar world on fire, such that the media is calling the ZR1X a “hypercar”! Car and Driver says that the ZR1X is the anticipated ZORA Corvette. Now we can see and hear the ZORA without the ugly camo wrap.
To put some perspective on the ZR1X ZORA, 1250 horsepower, nearly 500 horsepower more than the mighty McLaren Can-Am cars from the late 1960s that were powered by Hilborn fuel-injected 430 cubic-inch, all-aluminum big-block Chevrolet engines!

Zora Arkus-Duntov always wanted “more” of everything, especially horsepower. But I’m certain that he NEVER dreamed that one day a Corvette with his name on it would be so fast, so quick, and so powerful.

“I’m A Young Person Who Bought An Old Corvette And It’s Still Great After A Year Of Ownership”
From the beginning in 1953, Corvettes have always been premium, Cadillac-priced automobiles that younger people typically can not afford. Consequently, over the years, as Corvette prices kept going up, Corvettes developed a reputation as an “old guy’s fun car”.
However, if a younger buyer is okay with an older Corvette, he or she can own one for less than the price of a new Honda Civic. C5 and C6 Corvettes are outstanding performance car bargains. This story proves that a person of average means can own and enjoy a Corvette. A ’70s, ’80s, or ’90s car today is “just an old car”. But a C3, C4, or C5 will always be a “Vette”!

C8 Corvette Flies More Than 100 Feet Through the Air
I have been following all things Corvette since 1965. One odd aspect of the Corvette world is the quirky things people do to and with Corvettes. I once saw a Corvette in a parking lot that had arts and crafts, multi colored beads glued all over the body! It was hideous, but I guess the owner thought it was a thing of beauty.
The C8 featured in the below video isn’t an eye sore (even though the American flag paint job was painted on the car with spray cans!), but what they use the car for might make you start sucking air thought your teeth!
