Corvette Report’s BREAKING NEWS from the week of 7-26-25

The Latest C9 Concept Corvette… From California!
What an exciting time to be following all things Corvette. The 2019 ZR1 Corvette proved that more horsepower wasn’t the answer to big performance leaps. The engine had to be behind the driver for extra weight over the rear wheels. Since 2020, Corvette has racked up impressive performance advancements with the Z06, the E-Ray, the ZR1, and the ZR1X. (Read the third story down.)
The writer asserts that because the C8 is now six model years old, “it’s time” to start working on what the C9 looks like. No, the Corvette team has been on this since 2020.
The more I look at the California Corvette, the more I like it. The shape holds the right amount of classic fender humps. From the rear view I like the nice creases at the top of the fender humps. Note the carbon fiber wheels. I’m certain that a carbon fiber frame or tub will be under the pretty fiberglass. Note, no rear “window”.
It’s all digital and A.I., Baby!

2026 “Yellow Jacket” Special Edition Corvette
This is a good-looking Corvette Special Edition. Yes, as presented, the Yellow Jacket Special edition is only (for some unstated reason) available in Japan. Bowling Green will build 30 Corvette Yellow Jackets: 15 coupes and 15 convertibles. With a production total of only 30 official Yellow Jackets, I’m certain that many will be enjoyed sparingly, if at all.
But, if you like the Yellow Jacket look, you can pretty much do it yourself with specific options. It will never have the pedigree of the Chevrolet official Yellow Jacket, but it will always be a handsome-looking Corvette.

Beyond the ZR1X? Chief Engineer, Tony Roma, Drops Hints
Most of us are familiar with the idea that development pre-production cars that can not the sold, for liability reasons, are destroyed, sent to the CRUSHER. You know, crushed down into a cube, the same as you sometimes see in old salvage yards. Or in that scene in the James Bond 007 movie, Goldfinger, when the Rolls-Royce (with all the gold bars) is crunched down to a cube.
The new way is to hire a professional auto dismantler with a Sawzall. Interesting.
