Corvette Report’s BREAKING NEWS from the week of 2-27-26

From $3.85 Million to $270K: The Most Expensive Corvettes Ever
This is what happens when there are only 20 bad-ass 1967 L88 Corvettes in existence. Of the 20 1967 L88 Corvettes built, roughly 14–16 are believed to be accounted for today. That, in itself, is amazing because all of the 1967 to 1979 L88 Corvettes were built to be race cars. “Race cars” typically are thrashed, crashed, and often trashed.
Here are a few more factoids, nose-bleed figures for you. The C8 ZR1, VIN 001, and Z06 70th Anniversary both sold for $3.7 million each. Of course, these sales numbers are auction numbers. But, if you don’t have that kind of cash, you could visit your local Chevrolet dealer and rack up a fully loaded 2026 ZR1X Convertible for just $270,000. Harley Earl never imagined a quarter-million-dollar Corvette back in 1953!

Corvette Is America’s Fastest-Ever Production Car
The 2026 ZR1X is America’s fastest production car ever! How fast and quick, you ask? Chevrolet has not publicly claimed an official top speed specifically for the 2026 ZR1X yet, but GM’s performance specs indicate the ZR1X shares its likely top-speed ceiling with the standard ZR1 platform — around 233 mph.
And if that’s not enough for you to wrap your mind around, chew on this. Equipped with the ZTK Performance Package and tested on an untreated road surface, the 2026 ZR1Z’s 0-60 time is 1.89-seconds and the quarter-mile time of 8.99-seconds. On Chevrolet’s own drag-strip testing: on an unprepped surface, the ZR1X ran the quarter mile in 8.675 seconds at about 159 mph.
THIS IS CRAZY! But it sure is fun!

Every Corvette Generation’s Biggest Innovations
The Corvette has, from the beginning, been pushing the envelope of technology. Making a car body from the then-unproven material, fiberglass, to the 2026 ZR1X with its 1,250-horsepower and all-wheel-drive, it’s been an impressive 70-plus-year ride.
Yes, there were some down times. It’s an amazing thing that for decades, Corvette had been the car many inside GM wanted to see go away. Today’s it is one of GM’s top technology vehicles. This is a fascinating overview.

C5 Corvettes are generally known as being highly reliable, but this is jaw-dropping. Mark Blackwell’s 2000 Corvette has a mind-bending 773,388 miles on the odometer. Mark obviously likes to drive and drive and drive. And not just his 2000 Corvette. Mark’s previous Corvette had 342,000 miles on the odometer when he parted with the car.
Zora Arkus-Duntov was famous for saying that he wanted his Corvette customers to “drive and enjoy their Corvette”. Mark Blackwell got the memo. I believe that even Zora would be surprised.
