Greenwood Spirit of Sebring ’76 vs 1976 Corvette PDF Article
John and Burt Greenwood made THUNDER at the 1976 12 Hours of Sebring
Dateline: 3-21-26: John and Burt Greenwood‘s Spirit of Sebring ’76 IMSA monster Vette is still a bad-ass! Road & Track splashed the Greenwood wide-body Corvette on the cover of the March 1976 issue. The comparison is absurd, but it has two interesting angles.

By 1976, the Corvette was struggling to keep up its image. However, most of Detroit had abandoned its muscle cars and was busy downsizing. The Z28, Trans-Am, and Corvette were the three remaining cars left from the halcyon muscle car era. They looked and sounded great, but huffed and puffed like old geezers.
But in the world of road racing, IMSA was the hottest show going. The cars used Can-Am-size tires, had as much horsepower as the teams could squeeze, and were LOUD and FAST. The Road & Track story compares the stock 1976 and the Greenwood racer. There is no real comparison, but it sure is fun.
